DEVICEANYWHERE Partners with ondeego to deliver WORLD-CLASS MOBILE APPLICATION TESTING SOLUTIONS TO UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA – BERKELEY STUDENTS
DeviceAnywhere partners with customer OnDeego to extend its platform as a vehicle for mobile application development to students in the Mobile Applications and Entrepreneurship class.
(San Mateo, Calif., USA), November 11, 2008 – Award-winning mobile application development solutions provider DeviceAnywhere™ has joined forces with OnDeego – which rapidly creates rich mobile applications for the enterprise – to deliver its world-class solutions to students in the University of California – Berkeley’s (UC – Berkeley) Mobile Applications and Entrepreneurship class. Through the program, the students will receive five free hours on DeviceAnywhere to test their final project, which requires that they develop unique mobile applications on a variety of next generation mobile devices. This joint initiative will enable students to gain first-hand experience testing cutting-edge applications on DeviceAnywhere – the go-to mobile application development, testing and monitoring solution for more than 8000 users worldwide.
The Mobile Applications and Entrepreneurship class – which is offered through UC – Berkeley’s Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology – is taught by OnDeego’s CEO, Ken Singer. The course focuses on the booming mobile space, with emphasis on the development of mobile applications. As long-standing customers of DeviceAnywhere, OnDeego – has experienced the cost and quality benefits of the solution. Singer experienced first-hand the solution’s benefits and sought to involve DeviceAnywhere in the class, providing the class’s 27 students with access to real handsets on which to develop mobile applications. By employing DeviceAnywhere to create their final projects, the class’s students will be able to create high-quality, rich mobile content.
"Today's mobile application developers are challenged with developing high-quality content across thousands of devices worldwide," said Ken Singer, CEO of OnDeego. "We felt that in order to give the students in our class a real-world experience of the mobile application development process, it was imperative that we not only present the hurdles that developers face – particularly pertaining to device fragmentation – but also provide solutions to these problems. As DeviceAnywhere has been OnDeego's go-to mobile application testing partner, it was an obvious choice to offer students access to this valuable tool."
DeviceAnywhere is a revolutionary online service that provides access to more than 1500 real mobile handsets connected to live networks which can be accessed remotely over the Internet, meeting all development, porting, testing, and monitoring needs. Built on the company’s innovative, one-of-a-kind Direct-to-Device™ technology, DeviceAnywhere provides developers with a direct connection to real, in-network mobile handsets worldwide, enabling more efficient, cost-effective mobile application and content development. Through DeviceAnywhere, users can control all hardware inputs and outputs – including all button presses, main LCD screen, ringers, speakers and backlights – collaborate remotely with colleagues, and create audit trails to review test results. The students in the Mobile Applications and Entrepreneurship class will be able to access all of these features to develop their applications more efficiently than if they were forced to use emulator/simulator solutions.
“Mobile is growing rapidly worldwide and mobile application development is at the forefront of this expansion,” said Faraz Syed, CEO and co-founder of DeviceAnywhere. “As such, it’s more important than ever that new mobile application developers learn early on to employ tools that will enable the most efficient, cost-effective and convenient development – and no development and testing embodies these principles as much as DeviceAnywhere. We are thrilled to partner with one of our valued customers – OnDeego – to provide the next generation of mobile application developers with access to DeviceAnywhere, empowering them to create high-quality, rich applications now and in the future.”
