New DeviceAnywhere 5.0 offers new levels of Management and efficiency for Mobile Application Development

SAN MATEO, Calif., USA (February 10, 2010)  -- In response to the growing and diverse needs of over 3000 users across the globe, DeviceAnywhere™, the industry leader in end-to-end mobile application testing and development, today announces several innovative new features designed to simplify mobile application testing and test automation even further. Major features include new coding support for web apps, advanced features search and a new Test Case Manager function.

Web app coding

Based on DeviceAnywhere's data, web applications are now the most frequently tested applications on DeviceAnywhere Test Center™.  Because of this increased interest in web apps, the company has developed more functionality to simplify testing and debugging specifically for those developers.  Now when developers use the mobile web on devices in DeviceAnywhere Test Center, they can see the actual web coding in a separate window, allowing them to debug any issues in real-time.  This feature provides protocol-level detail including web page request and response headers, images and links, as well as a DOM tree.

Advanced features search
Another innovation in the new release is the ability for developers to search devices by features and characteristics.  So now a developer who needs to test applications on a particular OS, firmware version, screen size, form factor or wants to test devices with WiFi support, an accelerometer, a camera or GPS support can instantly see all those devices that match the characteristic they are searching for.  DeviceAnywhere provides over 50 search criteria, which can be searched for individually or in tandem.  For example, a developer could search for all devices with BlackBerry 4.5 firmware that also support GPS.  The search results can also be saved and imported into any chosen project.

Test Case Manager

DeviceAnywhere has also created a new Test Case Manager view designed to assist the QA process, allowing customers to design a testing plan, with test cases and test steps as well as the ability to save the proof required for each step, in the form of a screenshot or video.  The Test Case Manager allows developers to manually test or automate test cases through a single interface where all of a company’s testers can collaborate.

“With this release we have introduced a more intelligent set of features which offer more value to developers and makes testing easier and more efficient across the board,” commented Faraz Syed, CEO and Co-Founder of DeviceAnywhere.  “With the fragmentation in the mobile market, having an intuitive and end-to-end system for application development and testing is more critical than ever.”

Other features of the updated service include:
- A new “Device Console” which brings together multiple controls to a single location on the UI
- A new Keyboard tab with key mode controls visible, a text entry box where you can type and send to the device, and a log view of the keyboard presses
- Device pop-out: the device panel can be detached from DeviceAnywhere Studio; allowing developers to use multiple devices at once
- Alert sign-up service, letting users know when new devices are launched.
- A new ruler feature, which draws a small ruler to allow the user to determine the true size of an object on the screen

DeviceAnywhere 5.0 is generally available to users of the service worldwide.
